Eminem dropped the follow-up to 2017’s “Revival” on Thursday night at midnight on the east coast.

The album cover is an obvious homage to the Beastie Boys classic ‘Licensed To Ill’ and chimes in at about 45 minutes amongst 13 tracks. Guests features Joyner Lucas, Royce Da 5’9″, Jessie Reyez, and of course Paul Rosenberg. The album also ends with the track ‘Venom’ that will be featured on the upcoming film starring Tom Hardy and Riz Ahmed.

“Kamikaze” was executive-produced by Dr. Dre and Eminem. Additional production credits include Mike Will Made It (“Greatest” and “Fall”), Illadaproducer, Ronny J, Jeremy “Backpack” Miller, Boi-1da & Jahaan Sweet, Tay Keith, Tim Suby, Fred Ball and S1 for S.K.P. Inc. The album was recorded and mixed at Detroit’s Effigy Studios.

Interpolations on the album include Kendrick Lamar’s “Humble,” Playboi Carti’s “Woke Up Like This,” Young M.A’s “Oouu” and L.L. Cool J’s “I’m Bad.” (Variety)

Eminem tackles a few topics and personalities on ‘Kamikaze’ including President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, mumble rappers, the Grammy Awards, and the evil press for their reviews on 2018’s ‘Revival.’ The tweet announcing the new record even read “tried not to overthink this one.”

Em’s rapping skills are in top form on “Lucky You,” where he rhymes: “Coming from humble beginnings / I’m somewhat uncomfortable winning.” The opening track “The Ringer” also showcases his unparalleled delivery as Em digs at Lil Yachty, declaring, “Do you have any idea how much I hate this choppy flow everyone copies.” He opens the track with a free-flowing thought: “I feel like I wanna punch the world in the f—ing face right now.” His trademark melodic vocals can be heard on the autobiographical track “Stepping Stone,” in which he repeats a chorus that seemingly reflects on his previous battles with addiction. Em sings: “Imma wash away my sins / Imma rinse away this dirt / I forgot to make amends / To all the friends I may have hurt.” (Variety)

‘Kamikaze’ is the 10th studio album by Eminem, and can be heard on Apple Music, Spotify and other digital providers.
