The Pachenga Casino hosts Bellator 201: MacFarlane vs. Lara this Friday in Temecula, California.

In the headlining bout, undefeated Women’s Flyweight Champion Ilima-Lei MacFarlane looks to defend her belt against Alejandra Lara. The Main Card begins at 9PM/ET on the Paramount Network.

Main Card Predictions

Juan Archuleta vs. Robbie Peralta

Juan “The Spaniard” Archuleta (18-1-0) faces a true teag when he takes on veteran Robbie “Problems” Peralta (19-8-0,1NC) to kickoff the Main Card. After defeating William Joplin in his promotional debut in March at Bellator 195, the Spaniard puts his current thirteen fight win streak on the line against Peralta. Peralta ended a four fight losing streak in September 2017 earning a unanimous decision over Shad Smith with the California Cage Wars promotion. Peralta fought once in Brave Wars (Submission loss) in 2017 and also had a one fight stint with the WSOF after leaving the UFC in 2015. Juan Archuleta has been sharpening his sword training with TJ Dillashaw and Duane Ludwig, so I expect the Spaniard to enter the cage confident and hungry for a finish.

Danny’s Crystal Ball Prediction 🔮 Archuleta via First Round KO

D’Bo’s Picks: Archuleta via Decision

Valerie Létourneau vs. Kristina Williams

Valerie “Trouble” Létourneau (9-6-0) will try to duplicate the performance she had in her promotional debut when meets rising kickboxing prospect Kristina “Warhorse” Williams (2-0-0) in her second bout inside the Bellator cage. Letourneau put on a solid performance and earned a unanimous decision win over Kate Jackson in her debut at Bellator 191, ending a three fight losing streak.

However, Kristina Williams has looked nothing short of sensational since transitioning from kickboxing to mixed martial arts. In her professional MMA debut, Williams announced herself emphatically by defeating Heather Hardy Bellator 185 via Doctor’s Stoppage. In her last bout, Williams upset former Bellator Flyweight title challenger Emily Ducote by split decision at Bellator 195. I know that she only has two professional MMA bouts, but I am telling you, do not sleep on Kristina Williams! This fight against Létourneau should be a great litmus test for Williams. If Williams can get past Létourneau, a former UFC Strawweight title challenger, I would expect Williams to be in contention for a Flyweight title shot sooner than later.

Danny’s Crystal Ball Prediction 🔮 Williams via Decision

D’Bo’s Picks: Williams via Decision

Ryan Couture vs. Saad Awad

Riding a three fight win streak, Saad “The Assasin” Awad (22-9-0) clashes with Ryan Couture (11-5-0) in a Catchweight bout. After losses to Derek Anderson and Brennan Ward in 2016, Saad the Assasin has rebounded strongly with wins over Ryan Quinn (decision), Zach Freeman (TKO) and JJ Ambrose (decision). Awad is 10-5 inside the Bellator cage since joining the promotion in 2009. Awad has his eyes on a title shot with another win, but will Ryan Couture stand in his way?

Following losses to Patricky Freire and Gauti Yamauchi at Lightweight, Couture successfully moved up to Welterweight and defeated veteran Haim Gozali in his last bout at Bellator 180 in June 2017. Couture is 5-2 since leaving the UFC in 2013. Can he defeat two top Israeli MMA artists In consecutive bouts?

Danny’s Crystal Ball Prediction 🔮 Couture via Decision

D’Bo’s Picks: Awad via First Round KO

MAIN EVENT Bellator Women’s Flyweight Championship

{C} Ilima-Lei MacFarlane vs. Alejandra Lara

In the Bellator 201 Main Event, Ilima-Lei MacFarlane (7-0-0) puts her undefeated record on the line and looks to make her first Flyweight title defense against challenger Alejandra “Azul” Lara (7-1-0). In her last fight ,MacFarlane improved to 6-0 inside the Bellator cage and won the inaugural Women’s Flyweight Championship by submitting Emily Ducote at Bellator 186.

Alejandra Lara was successful in her promotional debut at Bellator 190, submitting Lena Ovchynnikova in the third round by rear naked choke. Lara is riding a three fight win streak and has finished her opponent in six of her seven victories. Ilima-Lei MacFarlane has finished five of her seven opponents in mixed martial arts. She also has proven to have quite the pedigree to finish her opponents on the mat as well after winning the EBI Women’s Flyweight Championship last summer as a Brown Belt with 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu.

With Alejandra Lara a lesser blue belt in Jiu-Jitsu, the slight edge in skill and experience may be all MacFarlane needs to successfully defend her strap for the first time in the Bellator 201 Main Event.

Danny’s Crystal Ball Prediction 🔮 MacFarlane via Fourth Round Submission

D’ Bo’s Picks: MacFarlane via Third Round Submission
